OK, before you go running in the opposite direction screaming, hear me out: these burgers are AMAZING. It’s like a perfect medley of summertime joy (berries + burgers) in one single patty. And if you really think about it, meat and fruit combinations aren’t so crazy; there are pork chops and apples, cranberries and turkey, ham and pineapple – so what’s weird about beef and blueberries? Exxxactly.
Flavor Profile: The balsamic and the blueberries come together to create a sweetness and an almost caramelized flavor, which is balanced out by the acidity and bitterness of the Dijon mustard. Both the acidity and sweetness of these ingredients help to cut through the depth and fattiness of the ground beef.
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/3 cup blueberries, frozen & chopped
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
-
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl
-
Mix together very well, until all ingredients are fully combined with the ground beef
-
Form mixture into patties and make a little “thumbprint” in the middle of each patty (this will prevent the burger from bubbling up while on the grill)
-
Grill burgers for approximately 4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness
